Pairing Songs

It's a time-honored fandom tradition to connect your favorite songs to your favorite pairings, whether the two fit together or not. I do it all the time; it's rare that I listen to a new song without trying to somehow fit it into my fandom shipper world. I always feel that these associations are best kept to oneself--pretty much any song can be interpreted from any pairing's perspective, and a lot of the time, the connection is so obscure that it becomes redundant to anyone but the individual making it.

However. (You knew there was one coming, didn't you?) Over the years, I've come across a handful of songs that, I feel, actually do fit a certain pairing or character in more than an entirely subjective way. Songs like that usually end up on my list of "vids I should make at some point". Vids, however, are a lot of work, and I'm lazy, so you're not getting vids, you're just getting the songs, and my thoughts on why they remind me of the character or pairing I listed them under.

Lots of YouTube videos under the cut. )

Long entry is long! Hope you found it at least a little bit interesting. Feel free to link me to your favorite character/pairing songs in the comments! :)

This is very, very ranty. As the subject line says, read at your own risk. )

. . . in which I say THANK YOU GUYS for the snowflakes. Pretty snowflakes. :3 Thanks for thinking of me! <3

And in which I boggle that there's a Merlin denial comm. I mean, I never really get denial comms, generally, but Merlin? What's wrong with Merlin? It's a big giant love-fest, that show, how could anybody hate it or want to deny it?

Oh, fandom. You make me sad. Or, not really. Mostly, you just puzzle me.

Okay, let's do an "I love my show" exercise. Take the one show you watch that you love to hate--and admit it, you all have one--and tell me something in the comments that this show did right recently. I'll start:

Small spoiler for the latest House episode. )

Good lord, Merlin. And here I was thinking it couldn't get any gayer than series 1. Although I did enjoy the minor spoiler ). Keep sparkling, shiny show. <3

I also caught up on House. I know, I said I wouldn't, but I couldn't resist the promise of spoilers ).

And, as I said, I also caught up on Supernatural. Ahahahahaha Jesus H. Christ. That show. Spoilers. )

Now, are there any other shows that I should catch up on?

I just left and took off the f-list various comms, including [livejournal.com profile] lifein1973 (this one was coming for a while I think; I've not lost interest in LoM, but the comm just doesn't make me happy at all), and all House comms except [livejournal.com profile] get_house_laid.

Guys, I think I might at long last be actually getting over that fandom. It's only been a year, mind you. /o\ Ask me in three weeks how I feel about this, though. It might just be a temporary bout of common sense.

However, I kinda feel like I should be giving up [livejournal.com profile] get_house_laid at this point. I've no idea what fandom is thinking about the new characters and who they are shipping, so I might not be the best person to be running the smutathon. [livejournal.com profile] recrudescence, we should probably chat about that when you're next online. :)

Nothing much will change on this journal, I don't think, so telling you guys is really just a way of making sure I won't regress, lol. I might actually still write crossover fic, because crossing House with Who is just fun, but there won't be anyone involved aside from season 2 House and Wilson. Which won't really make a difference to all my other fic, but... you know.

Wow, this entry was gratuitous. This seemed like a much bigger deal in my head, lol. To make up for it, have two awesome links to the original Doctor Who pitch from 1963 that the BBC released on their website.

Dear House,

we need to talk.

After I decided I wanted to split up, I have been trying to keep our relationship civil. I have run ficathons for you, and I have even introduced you to my new fandom by writing crossover fic. I have watched all the episodes and have been, if I say so myself, a very good ex to you.

You, on the other hand, have been very nasty to me. You haven't given me a lot of opportunity to regain my expectations in you, you've messed with my favorite characters so badly it hurt to watch it, and you've even brought the first ever medium-sized wank to my journal.

I have made my peace with that. I know I should have walked away from you entirely, but I couldn't. That's my fault, so I'm not expecting you to be nice to me. However: please do not lure me back in with false promises and canon gayness and GENERAL AWESOMENESS. Don't make me smile and feel the love for my boys again, because I know you will disappoint me. Stop with the mixed signals and the mind games. I'm with Doctor Who now. Please accept that and continue to be mediocre.

Been catching up on those TV shows

I've spent the whole day watching TV and talking to no-one (except people on the internet). I almost feel like myself again! ;)

I have been watching

Black Books )

Supernatural )

Merlin )

House )

In other news, I hope the crazy going-out thing will settle down now that the actual lectures are about to start. I have my first one on Tuesday morning - I think it's 'Technologies of Broadcasting'. My other subjects are: Research for TV, History of TV, Introduction to TV Production with the subtopics 'Editing', 'Studio' and 'Single Camera', and come February, I'll be ditching History of TV for Writing for TV, which I am very much looking forward to. I do like my schedule a lot - I have Fridays and every other Monday off - and apparently, there won't be any exams in this course, only essays and presentations, which I do approve of a lot. So far, I'm quite happy with the way this is going.

Guys, I'm sorry I've been so absent lately. I know I haven't commented at all, but I do read the f-list - just today I spent two hours catching up with the last couple of days' entries. It's just that there's a lot going on - I've not been writing either, just because I've been so distracted with real life things. I'm sure this will change again once I've settled into a routine.

Oh House. I wish I knew how to quit you. But what am I supposed to do if they give me trailers like that?

This is what is called 'being a manipulative ex'. )

Seriously. I am over House. I don't want to be in this fandom anymore. The show mostly annoyed me throughout season 4. But I just don't know how to walk away. *cue sad emo tear of fandom heartbreak*

I just finished my second Get House Laid prompt fic!

Only about four and a half months too late, heh. And it doesn't really fit the prompt anymore. But it's done, it's finished, at 6000 words it's not quite as pathetically short as all my other adult rated fic, and I think it's not even all that bad. Ask me again about that after my betas have torn it apart, though. Lol xD.

Depending on how much they make me edit and change, expect (hopefully) hawt gay pr0n on this journal sooner rather than later! :D

This is a House post, for a change :D. So you should go over there right now and share your kinky smut fantasies with everyone - you never know, it might get written!

I fell asleep in a lecture today. It wasn't even that boring, and I wasn't even that tired, but for some reason, I closed my eyes half-way through, and when I opened them again I heard the lecturer say, well, that's it for today, see you tomorrow!

I hope I didn't snore.

Anyway. Time for the really important things in life!

Hello everyone :)

Hello people, I'm back :).

And I spent the last four hours or so skimming the f-list. Oh Jeezus, House fandom! The J_B wank wasn't enough, was it? I admit it, plagiarism is no joke, and fuck, it pisses me off BIG TIME when I see native speakers that are too lazy to work on their writing and steal from others. I mean, there are several people in fandom who went and learned a different language to be able to participate. If non-native speakers can learn to express themselves in a whole new language, then it pisses me off to no end when I see native speakers that are too lazy to write their own fanfiction in their own native language.

BUT - enough with the wank, House fandom! It's high time season 4 started. People need something to do.

BLOOPERS!!!! SQUEEE!!! 'nuff said, lol. OMG, if I were into RPS, I'd totally ship HL and RSL. What the hell was RSL up to in that car scene, aside from annoying the hell out of HL? And I'm still convinced that Omar Epps is a LOT more fun than Foreman.

Right, what did I do in Denmark? Not much. I wrote some, I vidded a vid, and I endured my family who actually behaved themselves most of the time. I also swam in the Baltic Sea, and it was freaking cold. I ate a lot. Way too much, actually. I watched the rest of SG-1, and the actually shipped Daniel/Vala. YAYS! And I watched the rest of Due South s3 and s4. OMG! BRILLIANT! I need Ray K/Fraser recs. Anyone got Ray K/Fraser recs for me?

Officially I'm not here

teyla: Mary Morstan from Sherlock giving a thumbs-up. (speed)
Inofficially, though, I made my parents drop me off at the library and have spent the last hour skimming the f-list. And saw about 500 references to the season 3 gag reel. WANT TO SEE!! WANT WANT!! This stupid computer doesn't even have a USB port, though, let alone a headphone access port. Not to mention the fact that I don't have any headphones with me, and don't want to upset the Danes by dying from laughter in the middle of their library. I'll have to wait. DO NOT WANT!

In other news, Denmark is nice, if a little lacking in the internet access department (at least the corner where I am). The Baltic Sea is pretty. The weather is nice most of the time. I have lots of time on my hands and I've cut a H/W vid (a bad one, since I was using WMM) and started on another WIP. And I've finally watched the last few Season 10 SG-1 eps, and they shipped my ship. I died and went to heaven. YAYS! :D

Gotta go now. Library's closing :O.
