I drew David again. As Peter Carlisle, emo edition. ;D I don't really like it, but I found that if you scan it really huge and look at parts of the drawing instead of at the whole thing, they look pretty cool. So, small picture under the cut will take you to enormous scan, lol.

Why so emo, Peter? )

I'm not fucking okay with this.

Okay, so I'm usually really not too sensitive about people being not 100% political correct in any and all situations. Meaning I do know the difference between a friendly jab and discrimination. I'm not one to jump down people's throats for a slightly misplaced comment, either, I usually just don't comment and roll my eyes in private at the displayed ignorance.

But I've just about had it with the misogyny and the homophobic comments in this workplace.

I know they don't mean it. I know they're just fucking stupid and ignorant and don't think about what the hell they're saying. And they're not actually being aggressive about it; it's more that the existing clichés are being accepted as hard facts and are made fun of, and it's simply infuriating.

You know how most male stand-up comedians always make fun of the same things? It's women, it's religion, or it's gay people. Making fun is good. I like making fun of things. But I'm not fucking okay with the exaggerated opinions and clichés from those stand-up programs diffusing into real life and being accepted as the way things are. So Cologne is a city with a high gay population. Do you have to roll your eyes about that every fucking time the city is mentioned? The Glockenbachviertel is the gay scene in Munich. Do you really have to warn people about that - as in, "well, you could take a hotel there, but I should tell you there are a lot of queers around."?

And please do not, I repeat not patronize me because I as a woman know more about computers than you do. This is so backwards typing it out hurts my brain, but this is what actually happens. You're a woman and you know your way around a video conversion program? I'll bet you a hundred dollars that instead of simply accepting that you've got more expertise in that area, most men will smile and make an aw-look-how-cute face when you try to explain to them what they're supposed to be doing. I'm not your fucking kid who you explained this shit to. You don't get to patronize me about this. And stop being too fucking dumb to use Google to tell you how to use your computer - how do you think I learned all of this?

When you're at uni, you don't really notice how much of an effort they make not to be discriminating. You just take it for granted. Which it fucking should be. But when you're around people who just don't have that presence of mind, the constant ignorant comments and slurs start to get to you. It's disheartening, really.
