That's it! That's a lot of media to consume xD. If you wanted to analyze for themes and stuff... I suppose I like oddball over-the-top melodrama with wild tone shifts and a lot of plot, though the plot making sense is optional. And I will always be happy about depictions of relationships that are so close they transcend friendship, but that are not traditionally romantic.
I'm soliciting questions for this year's December posting meme - your chance to ask me an interesting (or boring - I don't judge), impertinent, unusual or usual question! Can be about a fannish opinion or headcanon, about me, a top 5, or my thoughts on anything that strikes your fancy. Please pick a day and give me a topic!

I have a lot of WIPs, and no titling discipline, so this one was amusing to collate, and also far too long for Twitter. I am adding the fandom to be slightly less cryptic. This goes back at least to 2016; I dug up some stuff I'd completely forgotten about.
Pick any you're interested in, and I'll tell you about them, and post a snippet!
( Entirely too-long WIP list )
(Sorry for just dropping a meme in here without interacting on anyone's posts or, well, anything. At some point in 2021 I will remember how interacting on the internet works. Until then, all I got is memes.)

No real surprises there. All the tropes with people being hella antagonistic but also horny for each other and possibly in love go up top, middle ground is where all the fluff ends up, and everything supernatural-y comes after. Kind of surprised that "Actually Unrequited Pining" isn't higher up in the list, but then, I do like a happy ending. :D

Snowflake Challenge!
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.
I posted links to a few of my recent fanworks in my last post already, so forgive me for including two of those works in this rec. They're my most recent, and therefore the ones I'm proudest of at the moment.
1) FANFIC: Jessica Jones Femslash
I'm including this because it's my first femslash fic and I found it quite freeing to write. It was nice to tell a story about awesome women for a change.
Title: Proxemics
Fandom: Jessica Jones (TV)
Rating: PG
Pairing: Jessica Jones/Trish Walker
Word Count: 14,833
Summary: Proxemics: the study of personal space. In which the aftermath of Kilgrave’s death prompts Trish and Jess to redefine some boundaries.
AO3 Tags: Post-Season/Series 01, Self-Worth Issues, Self-Destructive Behavior, Trauma, Recovery, Canon-compliant portrayal of PTSD, some hurt/comfort and some pining but mostly ladies being awesome and overcoming shit, plus a lot of lesbians, explicit and non-explicit, trust me all non-explicit lesbians are in fact lesbians, and of course there’s a happy ending because yuletide
2) FANVID: Ten/Simm!Master Time Lord Angst
Ten/Simm!Master will remain my forever OTP. I know fandom opinions divided on End of Time, but I love those episodes with all my heart. Time Lords are ridiculous.
Title: Weapon
Fandom: Doctor Who
Pairing: Tenth Doctor/Simm!Master
Summary: The Master was Rassilon's last weapon in the Time War, but it backfired.
( Vimeo stream under the cut. )
3) FANART: Holmes/Watson Crossdressing
This is very recent and was a quick one-off more than anything, but I quite like the way it turned out, and it did not get a lot of attention on Tumblr, so I'm sharing it here. Besides, Holmes/Watson in any incarnation are always appropriate.
Fandom: Guy Ritchie!Holmes
Medium: Digital art, Photoshop CS5 and Wacom tablet, pencil and watercolor brushes

Pick a fictional character from a fandom I know and I'll answer the following questions.
1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Likewise if you dislike the character.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how do you see yourself interacting with him/her? (Would you get along well? Fall in love with? Dislike? Friendly rivalry? etc etc)
8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?
9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) to someone who's new to the fandom?
10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?

How did Ace die horribly? As far as I remember, Seven took her to Gallifrey and got her enrolled at the Prydonian Academy. Oh well. If she stayed on Gallifrey, I'm sure she died horribly eventually.
I have decided I want to knit this. To this purpose, I bought some knitting needles, some tapestry needles and some yarn today. (I bought blue yarn because the red yarn the pattern wants me to use costs £5 a ball, and I'd need 10 balls. The yarn I bought, I got the same amount of yarn for £7.50. Be awed by my bargain hunting skills.)
Anyway, I'll see how that will go. I've bought all the yarn, so I should have an incentive to actually finish this. I do like the eyelet pattern. I knitted a hat that used it; it looks pretty.
In other news, no news. I've been watching Burn Notice and can't quite decide if I like it. Fiona is awesome. I also acquired the new SPN episode, but I can't get myself to watch it. I want Robocop Sam back. Right now, it feels like they're just rehashing the same emotional arc they based their last four seasons on. But then, it's SPN, so I probably shouldn't be expecting anything else.

Thoth Tarot deck, and I freely admit that I picked this one mostly because a) it was created by a dude called Crowley, b) it had pretty pictures, and c) it came in a pocket deck version that is smaller than the usual card size, and was cheaper than all the others.
( Tarot cards. )
Speaking of plots, yesterday, when I was in Roanoke with Jasper and
sirdoctoroftardis, I remembered a game I used to play with my sister. One player would name a character, or a pair of characters, an object, and an event/something that has to happen. So, for example, player one could name Dean and Castiel, a bible, and a condom being blown up like a balloon. Player two then has to take the character(s), the object and the event and integrate them in a plot outline. Lather, rinse, repeat. It's fun, and sometimes you come up with really cool plots that will spawn bunnies and make you end up wanting to write fic.
So! Let's play? Character(s), object, event, and I will come up with a plot outline. If I successfully manage to do so, I will give you a character, an object and an event in return. (Only if you want me to. You don't have to reciprocate if you don't feel like it.) If you're lucky, commentfic might happen. Maybe.

- What does marriage mean to you?
- What way would you least like to die? Think common death reasons: car accident, cancer, old age with senility, heart attack, etc. Not "I would least like to be eaten by a shark after being shot several times by mob bosses and dumped in a bay."
- Really, where would you most like to live, once you get out of school?
- What episode by RTD did you like least? (And, if I can cheat, what episode by Moffat did you like best?)
- Will your Cas muse call the Master an 'assbutt' if he threads with him?

1.) For any or as many characters as you'd like to answer -- what's five things you always try to keep in mind while playing [x character]? (Apparently I'm just going to ask everybody this.)
2.) What does being married mean to you?
3.) If your life was a television show, what would your fandom be like? What would people ship? What sort of cliches would pop up in the fic? What sort of fan would you be, if you were in that fandom?
4.) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be, why would you change it, and how do you think the loss of it/the difference involved would change you overall, for better or worse?
5.) What five shows/movies/books would you never touch, short of someone paying you a million dollars to watch/read them, and why?

![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
1) If you went on Mastermind, what would your specialist subject be?
Iii dunno? There's nothing specific I'm good at; I'm more a general knowledge kind of person. Maybe geography. Or Doctor Who. If I can pick a television show. I have to admit that I've never watched a complete episode of Mastermind.
2) If you could run away with: The Doctor, the Master, the Rani or Romana, who would you choose?
The Doctor. The Master's too nuts, the Rani's too fixated on science, and Romana's a pain in the ass. Yes, I would even run away with Four. I would probably push him off a cliff, though.
3) As a future television producer, which TV show do you think has had the most defining effect on you?
Definitely Doctor Who. Or, to be precise, RTD's era. It was the first television show that gripped me not only on a fannish level, but on a level where I looked past the characters at the production team and decided that yes, this is what I want to do. The confidentials helped--watching them, and seeing how much effort people put in this project, and how many people are involved in creating it, made me realize that this is a process I would love to be part of. So, yes, RTD's Who.
4) You have the chance to say anything to any historical figure. Who do you pick and what do you say?
Even if I could talk to historical figures, I probably would fail to see the point. Nothing I could say would make a difference, since history has already happened. That said, I might go back and tell Gandhi that I think he was a wonderful, smart person, and that I hope that his work and his ideas will continue to be remembered far into the future.
5) What do you think makes a good story?
( This gets a cut because it's long. )
Also, if you're a role player; an f-lister linked to a survey an academic friend of hers is conducting as part of her research for her master's thesis. It's about gender and sexuality of players and characters in role play games. It took me about an hour to fill out. If you have Thoughts On Role Play, you can totally knock yourself out in this survey.

1. Pick 10 of your favourite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Fill in the film title once it's guessed.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions!
It's actually much harder than it sounds to pick your 10 favorite movies. The ones in this meme aren't necessarily my all-time favorites ever, but they're movies I like and appreciate and would watch again. Also, feel free to throw some quotes my way in the comments! 1) Post a list of up to 20 books/movies/anime/TV shows/video games/bands [fannish etc.] that you've had an obsessive fannish love or interest in at some time in your life.
2) Have your f-list guess your favourite character/member from each item.
3) When someone guesses correctly, strikethrough the item and put the name of your favorite character next to it.
( Twenty items, coming up. )
And to keep with the trying-to-write-more idea, here's a drabble prompt meme.
1. Put your mp3 player on shuffle and take the first 25 (I went for 10) songs it gives you.
2. Link to the lyrics. (And I also linked to the songs. Because I'm just a nice person like that.)
3. Let your friends assign you a song and character(s) to write a drabble to. (Is this point awkwardly worded or what?)
Characters/Pairing: Whoever you feel like throwing at me. I THINK COLONY SHOULD BE A TRANSFORMERS DRABBLE. Disregarding the fact, of course, that I've never seen any of the movies or read any of the comics. >_> (Terminator, then, maybe?)

Right now, I'm not down. I'm about to go on an awesome vacation, and I'm doing a course that even after a year is still keeping my interest. All the more, every time I talk to someone who's not doing so well at the moment, I feel that I should do something. I should help somehow. Because apparently, I seem to have found out about some trick to not be down that I could share with them, which would make their lives so much easier to bear. That's nonsense, of course, but it's an emotional response I have to seeing people depressed--wanting to talk to them, and wanting to help.
Now, I don't know how useful this will be to anyone, but I thought I could give it a try. I'm screening all comments to this post; I'll turn anonymous comments on, and IP logging off. And if anyone feels like they need to get something off their chest, please, leave a comment. If you don't want me to reply, put a note at the bottom of your comment and I won't.
