Apparently, my desktop runs on an Athlon 64 X2 4000+, has an L2 cache of 1MB, and is code-named Windsor. The processor is old, it was released in May 2006, but it was a very good processor back then. Also, Athlon discontinued the non-FX 64 X2-s with 1MB L2 cache a month after the 4000+ was released, which means that little Windsor is a rare special snowflake. :3
My laptop is a complete letdown. It runs on an absolutely boring and common Intel Pentium D that was released in late 2007 and doesn't even have a proper code name. (It's a subspecies of the Allendale processor and is usually called Merom-2M, which is just not a cool name.) The only thing it's got going for itself is that it's a dual core and not a single. Fail, laptop, fail.
The netbook runs on an Intel Atom. It's only a single core, but it makes up for that with its kick-ass code-name Diamondville. Come on, how can a processor called Diamondville not be awesome? It's also the youngest, having been released in June 2008. Aw, netbooklet. Sparkle on.
Now I just kind of want to ship them. Windsor, unique and experienced, meets Merom, who's completely insecure, because he's so common and boring. How could someone as special as Windsor ever be interested in him? But Windsor, lonely and close to being old enough so even his uniqueness won't save him from being out-of-date, appreciates Merom's reliability and stable family background. They hook up, and despite some problems and misunderstandings, make it to the point where they want to adopt a kid. Enter Diamondville, young, energetic and sparkly, and. . .
Okay, no, I'll stop here. No shipping computer processors, self. Seriously, someone needs to provide a new fandom, or I'll start shipping my coffee mugs. 9_9
Speaking of computers, has anyone tried Windows 7 yet? Any good? Horrible? I do love XP, but it is getting just a tiniest bit outdated. Especially since I'm running the '02 SP2 version. >_>
