Earlier, I had a very profound-philosophical discussion with a friend about the original sin. I would love to hear your opinion (no fear, neither of us is a religious nut - quite the opposite, actually).

Both wihluta and
housepiglet made this appear on my flist today, so I felt compelled to post my own version as well.
1. grab the nearest book
2. open the book to page 23
3. find the fifth sentence
4. post the text of the next three sentences in your journal along with these instructions.
5. don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
6. go on, you know you want to play, too
I am currently procrastinating studying for my chemistry exam on the 14th. So, the nearest book was a chemistry book - a German one. Please forgive me if I screwed up the translation.
If this valence bonding allows the atoms to reach the configuration of an inert gas s^2p^6 like neon, argon or krypton respectively 1s^2 like helium, then this configuration is energetically favorable and therefore stable. Consequentially, inert gases themselves have a very low tendency to create bonds with other elements, therefore they usually occur in their atomic configuration. All other elements posess the urge to bond with other elements in order to reach an s^2p^6 configuration of their valence electrons (Octet rule).

First Letter Meme!
Use the first letter of your username to answer each of the following. They must be real places, names, things, nothing made up! If you can't think of anything, skip it. Try to use different answers if the person in front of you had the same first initial. You can't use your name for the boy/girl name question.
