Come Play With Me

It does pay out to visit your family now and again. We (my sister, my brother, my dad and me) just had the most awesome discussion about what's gonna happen in the 7TH HARRY POTTER NOVEL!

Well, we all wonder, right? What's Snape up to? WTF was up with Dumbledore in Halfblood Prince? What the heck is going on?

Snape:
My dad just presented with the most awesome theory about Snape: he is a horcrux! (if you're now going, duh! we all knew that!, then you should probably skip this entry. I'm usually not very not at all active in the HP fandom, and have taken part in very few discussions about the books, so I've no idea what the current opinion is on what's gonna happen in the 7th novel). Anyways, for me that theory was like a revelation, like "Um. Why exactly did I never think of that? It's so fucking obvious!!".

Because Snape himself isn't darkside. Snape's just a bitter loser, who participated in Voldemort's games until he suddenly had his revelation and joined Dumbledore's forces. He's a way too intriguing character to just waste him on the part of the average evil coward. I don't think Rowling would do that. And what's with Harry's scar hurting every time Snape's acting particularly evil? If he were the average Ex-Death Eater, that shouldn't be happening, right? It all fits! At least at the moment. Maybe I'll find holes in my dad's theory if I think about it a little longer. Right now, though, Snape = horcrux FTW!! ;)

Dumbledore:
Right. Dumbledore. His decline in the 7th novel was like watching the Eiffel Tower going down in a magnitude 3 earthquake. Like, um, WTF? Greatest wizard ever, and all?
But my sister offered an explanation that makes sense of it all: Dumbledore's an animagus - a phoenix animagus! Like a phoenix, he lost his strength very quickly as his life was coming to an end, and like a phoenix, he rose from the ashes! In the burial scene, Harry thinks he saw a white phoenix rising up into the sky, and if that's not an unmistakable clue, I don't know what is. And of course, "faking" his own death was very convenient for Dumbledore: Voldemort thinks his greatest enemy (or maybe his most worthy adversary, since Harry's probably his worst enemy) is dead, and he's bound to get reckless sooner or later. Which is when Dumbledore will reveal that he's, in fact, not dead, and will strike him down (getting all excited here - please forgive the dramatic language ;) ). And in becoming a phoenix animagus, Dumbledore has conquered death in a way Voldemort never even thought of. Which is another win for the good guys. I think this is a very cool theory.

First of all, the most critical piece of LJ and internet etiquette there is: Talking about your own wild theories is a wonderful thing, but if you're talking about actual rumors that you've heard from, like, actual interviews, or wherever people get their rumors from, WARN FOR SPOILERS. Seriously, you don't want to be in the middle of the hell that's going to break loose if someone who's already in a pissy mood accidentally gets spoiled. (I should know - I just about strangled the person who spoiled me for Dumbledore's death.)

Um, if I misread your post, and those rumors are just other people having wild theories, sorry.

That said, I love love love the Dumbledore as a phoenix animagus theory, it makes perfect sense, and I'd be really happy if it turned out to be true.

[livejournal.com profile] tinnny is pretty convinced that Harry is a horcrux. Personally, I haven't read the books in so long that I barely remember how the things were supposed to work, never mind remembering any foreshadowing as to who/where they could be, so I don't know. You think they could both be horcruxes, or would that be over the top?

I'm convinced that Snape will turn out to be one of the good guys, and that he'll die, probably while saving Harry's live. Fifty percent chance of Harry dying, too, at the very least. There's a good chance that Sirius might return, I think, but only if Harry survives the end of the book, too.

I like both theories. You must be really happy that your family are able to discuss a theme like this with you. I wished I could do the same with my family or friends but there is no one who read HP. And if I found someone who read it the guys are not able to talk with me about the books. I heard only: "Oh yes, good books or(one chollegue)I only saw the movies. I didn´t read the books but my husband has read the books. *Great!Idon´tknowthehusband-grrrrrr*. Whatever, you should enjoy the discussion. It´s great that there is anybody to discuss with you. I read every time for myself and without a discussion about the stuff I´ve read.

alright, here are some of the theories that fly around in my family:
1. harry potter is going to die in book seven. We think ther isn't much else, that could happen to him, that wouldn't sound too cutsie... but then, we're not jk.
2. Dumbledore and sirius are definitely dead. they are not coming back.
3. RAB (who took the horcrux in 6) is sirius' younger brother.
4. snape killed dumbledore on dumbledores orders, for some, as yet, unexplained reason. which leads us to...
5. malfoy junior is going to join harry.

can't think of any more right now...

Huh. Interesting.

Like neery said, I think Harry's the horcrux. Created 'by accident' when Voldemort tried to kill him back when.

That's also why Harry needs to die if Voldemort's going to die.

It's also why Dumbledore didn't kill Voldemort in book 5 (?) in the battle at the ministry, even though he had the chance, because he knows they're linked (V and Harry).

I don't care about Sirius, or Malfoy, so I haven't thought about anything regarding them.

I think the Snape idea is nice, too. I haven't watched for any signs for that, so I'd have to read the books again (haha, yeah. No. Not going to happen). But it sounds plausible.

I really like the idea about the Phoenix Animagus. Nice one! I could live with Dumbledore staying dead, too, though. :)
