SG-1
Since SGA seems to have gone on a mid-season break (just my luck, getting myself hooked on a live series which goes on break the minute I'm done catching up with the episodes), I started on SG-1.
Seriously, how did this series ever make it past the pilot? I mean, I know there's a 1994 movie which is canon and which I haven't seen and which might explain part of the pilot's plot, but still... my biggest problem I think is Teal'c suddenly deciding that hey, it'd be real fun to change sides, wouldn't it. I guess there has to be something in the movie that I don't know about which explains this, because it's just... strange. But the rest of the pilot is pretty confusing (and boring), too.
But I did watch the next few eps, anyway! (Yeah, I know, it's a bad sign, but hey, I think I'm hopeless, anyway). And I have to say, it gets better. Not 1x02 (except for Kowalski dying, that was a good thing, if you ask me), but I actually got half a smile out of 1x03 (liked the scene when they dressed Carter up in that pretty blue dress and the rest of the team began drooling). And 1x04 was okay, too - liked the Carter/O'Neill scene in the changing room (who would've thought). Anyway, I guess I'll give it a chance - after all, at *some* point, McKay will show up, and that definitely makes the series worth watching.
I did the test thing already, and was told this:
You are Samantha Carter

You are highly intelligent and enjoy scientific challenges, but you also obey the rules. ![]() |
Okay, so I'm Rodney McKay and Samantha Carter. That is... kinda creepy.

Ah. Okay. Didn't quite work out with me...
Well, from what I've seen so far, the pilot is by far the worst of SG-1 (I've only seen the eps up to 1x07, so that opinion might still change ;) ). I guess a couple of flashbacks would've helped (to the first time O'Neill went through the stargate). Like this, I got the feeling of tuning in when the movie was halfway through already. Anyway, I quite liked the other episodes I watched, even though I really do miss the self-irony of Atlantis (and, of course, the references to Star Trek... I Love Lucy just doesn't make for a good substitute ;) ).
I'm not saying Carter/O'Neill would be a good pairing, I just liked the locker room scene ;). Could've been any woman, as far as I'm concerned...
I'm no particular fan of on-screen het shipping, especially among team members - exceptions like The Doctor/Rose or Mulder/Scully aside. And I don't think those two would make a good couple (Carter and O'Neill).
Season 5's fine. I've waited 12 ER seasons for John Stamos to show up, so... ;)
