SG-1
Since SGA seems to have gone on a mid-season break (just my luck, getting myself hooked on a live series which goes on break the minute I'm done catching up with the episodes), I started on SG-1.
Seriously, how did this series ever make it past the pilot? I mean, I know there's a 1994 movie which is canon and which I haven't seen and which might explain part of the pilot's plot, but still... my biggest problem I think is Teal'c suddenly deciding that hey, it'd be real fun to change sides, wouldn't it. I guess there has to be something in the movie that I don't know about which explains this, because it's just... strange. But the rest of the pilot is pretty confusing (and boring), too.
But I did watch the next few eps, anyway! (Yeah, I know, it's a bad sign, but hey, I think I'm hopeless, anyway). And I have to say, it gets better. Not 1x02 (except for Kowalski dying, that was a good thing, if you ask me), but I actually got half a smile out of 1x03 (liked the scene when they dressed Carter up in that pretty blue dress and the rest of the team began drooling). And 1x04 was okay, too - liked the Carter/O'Neill scene in the changing room (who would've thought). Anyway, I guess I'll give it a chance - after all, at *some* point, McKay will show up, and that definitely makes the series worth watching.
I did the test thing already, and was told this:
You are Samantha Carter

You are highly intelligent and enjoy scientific challenges, but you also obey the rules. ![]() |
Okay, so I'm Rodney McKay and Samantha Carter. That is... kinda creepy.

The Carter/O'Neill scene in 1x04 is one of the few 'shippy' things between them I can stand. I think it's from "Solitudes" (near the end of season 1 onwards) that the whole Jack/Sam thing gets out of control, in my opinion, since they never really dealt with the relationship issue head on (if they were going to take it seriously, the writers/producers could have had Sam move to a different SG team, for example, in order to start a relationship with Jack, but I think I may have ranted about this to you before *g*)
Oh, and McKay doesn't appear until mid/late season 5, episode called "48 Hours", so you've got some way to go still! ;)

Ah. Okay. Didn't quite work out with me...
Well, from what I've seen so far, the pilot is by far the worst of SG-1 (I've only seen the eps up to 1x07, so that opinion might still change ;) ). I guess a couple of flashbacks would've helped (to the first time O'Neill went through the stargate). Like this, I got the feeling of tuning in when the movie was halfway through already. Anyway, I quite liked the other episodes I watched, even though I really do miss the self-irony of Atlantis (and, of course, the references to Star Trek... I Love Lucy just doesn't make for a good substitute ;) ).
I'm not saying Carter/O'Neill would be a good pairing, I just liked the locker room scene ;). Could've been any woman, as far as I'm concerned...
I'm no particular fan of on-screen het shipping, especially among team members - exceptions like The Doctor/Rose or Mulder/Scully aside. And I don't think those two would make a good couple (Carter and O'Neill).
Season 5's fine. I've waited 12 ER seasons for John Stamos to show up, so... ;)

CHULAK!!
Teal'c's homeworld is called Chulak... and I should have known that off the top of my head... bad TLI, very bad TLI...

I liked it too, although too many people writing SG-1 fic have read far too much into it for my liking. Then again, I have a tendency not to notice any pairings onscreen, either het or slash, until I've got my hands on either fanfic or music videos. The only exception to date is Jack/Ianto from Torchwood, but only because it's so bloody obvious!!! (That, and they've kissed on screen. Yay Russell T. Davies ;) )
Ahem.
Ahh, I miss Ford. Before he became the druggy, whacked out version of himself, that is. I actually liked the sound of "Atlantica", too... ;)

Haven't watched Torchwood yet, bad me. No space on my HD. Jack was fun in Dr. Who, and I absolutely loved Jack/The Doctor/Rose - OT3! Need to check out Supernatural first, though, since I've already seen the pilot (I really do need that portable HD...)

I don't think there's much to it. Like they explain in the episode, the female simply picked the alpha-male for reproduction. I don't think she's into guys like Jack - on second thought, maybe she is, but Jack isn't into girls like her. So, no Carter/O'Neill in my universe...

None in mine, either ;)
And I bought a 250gb portable hard drive today *bounces* I'll finally have space to vid something other than Atlantis ;)
