Potterwank has been very quiet, considering 15 mio. copies of the book were sold only in the first 24 hours. 15 mio people! Even if only 0,1% is in fandom, that still makes 15,000 people. If half of them read the book as quickly as most people apparently did, that makes 7,500 potential wankers. You'd think 7,500 people should be able to come up with some serious LMAO I-just-sprayed-my-drink-all-over-my-screen-at-the-batshit wank. You disappoint me, fandom!

However, I did find some gems I wanted to share :).

Pretty tl;dr. The comments at fandom_wank are sort of fun to read though. Also, the general idea behind this wank is just so... WAY to miss the point ^^.

This is quite a long post, and you might want to think about adding ?style=mine to the URL in the navigation bar of your browser, because blurry fine white print on black background is just sort of annoying.
I urge you to read the whole thing. The author's fairly reasonable in the beginning, but she ventures into Batshit Country about halfway through. I was nodding along in the beginning and choking with suppressed laughter in the end.(*)

Sometimes I don't know if the Harry/Hermione people or the Snape fangirls are more batshit.
And then I look at my journal entries about House and realize I have no room to talk.

It's the whole point of fandom isn't it? Choosing when to wank and when to mock. It doesn't really matter on which criteria you base your decision. The only important thing is to do both ;).

Oh god, after reading the Snape rant I want to scream. He wasn't as evil as the books implied, but the man is not a saint. And I'm hard-pressed to call him a hero. Gah.
And on the other side, I'm almost as irrational about Wilson, so I'm embarrassed for everybody. *climbs aboard the fail[insert-vehicle-here]*

Snape kicks ass! Snape, like Dumbledore, is one of the few sophisticated characters in the HP series. He's a martyr, but at the same time, he's an ass. People who wanted a redemption for Snape totally did not get it.
