Why hello internet-that-is-not-a-RP-comm. Haven't seen you in a while.

I've come to whine. Internet, I'm sick. My head hurts, my throat hurts, and I feel all tired and blah. Pity me, internet. Get on that.


I really can't afford being sick right now, because uni has started up again. Fuck this year is going to be a shitload of work. I've got four units, Studio Series Development and Production, Advanced Studio, Film & TV In The Global Age and Major Project. In Studio Series, we'll be required to make six (!) half-hour studio shows until the end of April. Advanced Studio, that's one half-hour studio show until Christmas. Film & TV is the theoretical unit, and it's actually pretty cool because it's all about how television influences cultural and personal identity, and in the two seminars that have happened so far, I've felt so damn superior, because I know all this stuff already. And I could point out the huge flaws in the white, straight, male readings we have to do for that unit. So that's kinda fun. But then there's the Major Project, which, well, that's my dissertation, basically, and ugh so much work. SO MUCH WORK. Senior years are no fun. I mean, they are, I'm kinda looking forward to all of this, but SO MUCH WORK. *gets sick simply to be contrary*

I might skip work this weekend. I don't really feel like yelling across the coffee shop and talking to customers when my throat is sore like this.

I sent my diabetes evaluation in to my health insurance, and they're covering the expense of a new insulin pump. YAY. That's that covered for the next four years. Relief. I know they're not as strict as they always say they are, but that doesn't change the fact that I always start panicking slightly when it comes to being evaluated.


. . . that's all I got. As I said, I came to whine. Have an awesome dog to make up for that.

It is! Great news, I mean. I was very relieved to get that letter.

And blah, I'm still sick. I thought it was going away, but NO SUCH LUCK, apparently. Oh well. Seems like the entire world is sick atm, anyway.

Lol, actually, I usually bore myself to death when I whine. So I avoid doing it, usually. But not when I'm sick, because there's not really anything else you can do about being sick, other than whine.

That sounds like my Media Studies unit! Both in terms of context and in terms of my reaction. (Though my reaction has also consisted of getting REALLY ANNOYED in seminar following because people are stupid, and don't understand.)

I'm sorry you're sick. Obviously the solution is: COME TO LONDON. :D I have cough drops...

Yeeeah, I get annoyed with people, too. Like, last year, we had this unit called contemporary British TV, and I got talking to a guy in my group about minority representation on TV. And I mentioned the male privilege, and he just gave me this blank look and was like, what privilege? I'm not privileged. And I went . . . right. I'll just find someone else to talk to, then, shall I?

I'M STILL SICK. :( This sucks. I thought it was going away, but APPARENTLY I WAS WRONG. *eats paracetamol like candy* I need to talk to my boss about shifting my work days from Friday and Saturday to Wednesday and Sunday on that weekend I want to go up to London. I should get on that.

Dissertations are SO HARD! I feel like I spent years on my life with mine. 3rd year does seem to go surprisingly fast though and it sounds like you've got some pretty cool modules so should be fun! :D

Oooh and for the sore throat try lemon tea with honey in it. Tastes disgusting but works :) (I realise that's not a resounding endorsement but it does work :P) Oh and chicken soup. :D

God, I just don't look forward to coordinating this dissertation project with my group. I like most people I'm working with, but I think there's one guy in my group I'm going to have issues working with. I hope I'm wrong about that. :|
