READ AT YOUR OWN RISK

I'm having one of those days when someone only has to say "media" and I'm off on a rant about everything and anything that is wrong with the depiction of women and LGBTQ people on television. I'm blaming at least partly the latest House episode, and the way the House PTB need to finally shit or get off the pot regarding the House/Wilson ship. (Maybe not the best idiom to use here, but it sounds appropriately rage-y to describe my feelings about the issue.) The way they're dragging it out doesn't only insult all genuine gay relationships, but also all genuine straight relationships. MY RAGE ABOUT THE HOUSE SUBTEXT, LET ME SHOW YOU IT.

Ahem. Yes. You'd think I'd use this rage and channel it into the essay about women in British television I have to finish until next Wednesday, but nope. No dice. I have three projects to finish until next Wednesday--one essay, one documentary, and one narrative--but instead, I'm vidding. Go me.

Vidding is so damn frustrating. I really don't know why I bother. Remember this vid I've been talking about for ages and ages? The DW one to The Noose by A Perfect Circle? The one I started vidding, oh, before Planet of the Dead aired? Yes, that's right, I've been working on this vid since before April last year. I admit, it's a very ambitious vid, covering the entirety of New Who in four minutes and fifty-three seconds, which is damn long for a vid, but still. I've been working on it for almost a year, and so far, it's barely three and a half minutes long, and not at all what I would like it to be. That's not entirely true, there are bits that I really like, but there are also parts that just don't really work at all. Askljhfadjds. As I said, I don't know why I bother.

Ahaha. I should go sleep. There's no real chance of this day getting any better. ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING IT'S 4AM. Go to bed, woman.

ETA: Ahahahaha omg rereading this, I sound like the world's most spoiled brat. Creating my own problems, I'm doing it right. Never mind me. Have some diet cherry coke instead. *shares cherry coke*

I think the main problem in life is we are all stuck with ourselves. DAMMIT, SELVES. Shape the fuck up B|

And you've heard me on women in media before. So many useless motivating-object female characters, Lord.

Yeah . . . teachers always act like they're giving you a gift with open-topic essays. And it's like, no, you are making me do a whole lot of extra thinking and angsting and possibly reading just to get your damned assignment done B| I want time to think on my own!

Hm, *take a cherry coke* and listen to the rant. *grin*

Yay, Cherry Coke! Not so much yay, House.

I typed up some stuff (that now I'm hesitant to post) about how it's partially the writers' fault for bringing gay stereotypes into it and partially our own for being so willing to judge people based on them. Nora jumping to conclusions was annoying and maybe even offensive, but it also indicates the assumptions made by quite a few people out there. Initially, I saw the whole thing as poking fun at how people jump to conclusions like that (with the usual heaping teaspoonful of House Being An Ass and Possibly Toeing The Line).

Then I read all the responses.

They should make up their minds already instead of throwing a bone to the Huddies one week and one to the Hilsons another week. It's getting old, not to mention insulting. But a lot's insulting about House MD lately. DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON THE PAIN-THING! DON'T DO IT!!!!

I'm in a foul mood, can you tell?
