First post on the new server!

Role playing is eating my life. Of the last 36 hours, I've spent only about three on sleeping. Naturally, those were the hours that LJ was down. Lol. I think the whole population of LJ fandom was asleep during the server move; I've read it about three or four times on the f-list already.

I haven't done Nano :(. I'm about 3000 words behind, and if I don't write anything today, it'll be 4000. I guess I can still catch up, but I've slipped out of my schedule now, and knowing myself, I probably won't be able to muster the enthusiasm to get back on track. Oh well, I still got 27,000 words in less than three weeks and a good solid WIP out of it, so that's cool. :D

I don't know if it's just my course, but British uni is kind of easy. I am certainly not complaining, not at all - I don't believe in challenging myself in areas that don't really interest me, and while I'd be happy to challenge myself in my video editing class, I'm not so much interested in having to challenge myself in my History of TV seminar. So I'd rather have it all being not too challenging and challenge myself in the areas where I want a challenge, lol.

I haven't really had to do a lot yet - it's all about practical work, presentations and things. This term - is it term? - ends in early December, and until then quite a few presentations and assignments are due. Well, so today in our Technologies of Broadcasting seminar, we had to talk our running order through with two of our tutors. It's a group presentation, and they talked to each group individually while the other groups were waiting in the seminar room. Every group that came back were all like, 'omg they ripped it apart, we're doing so badly, woez'.

Now, my group hadn't done a lot for the presentation, and we didn't really have a running order, so I expected that we wouldn't fare any better than any of the others. But when we went in there, it was all fine. We explained what we had so far and what we were planning to do and how we were going to put it all together, and the tutors were all *nod nod* 'fine, fine'. I have to admit, I kinda did the whole thing when you just talk and talk and talk and never actually say anything so they won't be able to get a chance to ask about any of the stuff you haven't done, but then, that's a basic bluffing technique, lol. I thought everybody did that.

Anyway, when we got back to the room where the others were waiting, they of course asked us how it went, and my group was all, oh it went fine, we just talked so much they didn't get a word in edgewise - and the others were all like, well, lol, you did have T'eyla. (Only that they used my real name.)

Now, I'm not sure what to make of this. I'm a little older than most people here, so maybe that's it - I've had a couple more years to figure out how to make it look like you've done work when you really haven't done anything. But I have to say, we were quite pathetic in summarizing what we had done for the presentation - because we've basically done nothing - and if the others were even worse? Well, idk. Maybe it's just me getting a completely skewed picture as usually, lol. Or maybe it's just that it's the first term of the first year, and it'll change later.

If it's not that, though, and it's going to stay as easy as this, then these three years will rock. Lol xD.

To go get some sleep or to not go get some sleep? Decisions, decisions. For some reason, I'm not tired. Lol.

So I wish you for the next three years that your time there will be how you like it. One question: Do you spend the christmas time at home by your family?

Yeah a little distance sometimes has good consequences.
So if you want me to send you a christmas card please let me know the adress. You don't have to, you know. It's just this year I want to write christmas cards (for my first time in my whole (long, long) life).

I found my first year at uni rather relaxing, I have to admit. And I think the other two years are what you make of it. I spent my first term playing games like 'British Bulldog' and so on, because apparently theatre people (I studied Theatre and Performing Arts and Media Arts) need to really get to know each other...
I spent a lot of time reading up on theatre theory, because I was the only one who hadn't studied theatre or drama before. Everybody else had taken drama A-levels or National Diploma or something like that.

Enjoy it! I wish I could do it all over again. Damn, I miss uni.

Yeah, first year of uni is a doddle, second year... *stares at rapidly amassing piles of assignments* there just aint enough hours in the day y'know?

I had the complete opposite experience: first year at uni was hellish, and students dropped like flies left, right and centre, next 4 years were pure bliss.
