Uni update

I passed my anatomy test! The fifth one! (well, actually, it was the eighth one, but since three of those were retakes... :P). It was really hard, they asked stuff I'd never heard of before, and stuff that I'd seen in my textbook while revising and skipped because I was absolutely sure they wouldn't ask such random stuff in the exam. They did, though. Well, in the end, it didn't make a difference, because I did pass, which means that I'm all done with my anatomy course, except neuro-anatomy - but that's only 2 exams, and after wiggling my way through the 5 anatomy tests, I feel quite confident that neuro won't be too much of a problem.

And after that, I will be all done with anatomy. Hallelujah!

In other news... well, at the moment, I have no lectures, but strangely I'm much busier than during the semester. I'm doing practical training in biology, which is actually kinda neat. We get to play with those nifty lab pipettes and the bunsen burner. The experiments usually don't work, and mostly, we just make a mess, which is kinda fun. There are two parts to the practical period: microbiology and genetics. Microbiology is only fun when they let us do stuff like dying bacteria on microscope slides, because that's when the aforementioned mess-making happens (otherwise, it's deadly boring; bacteria just aren't all that exciting). In genetics, though, we get to PCR our own DNA, which is very cool, as far as I'm concerned. And we're going to make mutant bacteria, and I can't help thinking of "The Evil Dead" all the time (there are no mutant bacteria in that one, but the people that keep rotting and dying in fast forward on-screen always looked to me as if they were being eaten up by mutant bacteria).

After biology, I'm doing chemistry, which will probably be a lot of fun in the mess making department, too, but I don't think I'll ever be able to get excited about the theory of chemistry, so I guess I'll have to try and get as much enjoyment out of genetics, because that course will probably be the one I'll enjoy most.

That's all the news in uni things. And there's not been going on muchh else the last few days, not with the anatomy exam and four to five hours of biology a day. I haven't even found the time to watch the new SG-1 episode! But I will do that now. And I will watch House 3x13, which I have finally been able to acquire.

*leans back with a contented sigh and starts up the SG-1 ep*

Congratulations on passing your anatomy test! I don't know how you do it. I'd be absolutely hopeless if I had to take any of those tests!

I'm glad that you're enjoying the practical training component of biology. I hope you'll enjoy chemistry even if you aren't looking forward to it as much as genetics. Although I'm not a "science" person, I always thought genetics was really interesting.
