New layout
Wee. Finished the LJ layout stylesheet. Tricked IE into doing what I want. Well, almost - tricked IE into displaying the site in a tolerable layout is probably more like it. If you want to see this layout as it was meant to look by the creator, you'll have to look at it in Firefox.
So, what do you think? Any good, or should I change it back to the standard smooth sailing layout?

The only problems for me are that the contrast between text and background isn't big enough - you might want to make the text a bit darker, or the background a little lighter.
Also, the text is really tiny on my screen - I have to enlarge it twice to get the "standard" text size.
And "NEW LAYOUT and "Homepage" overlap in the right corner beneath the picture.
I like the elephant pic, and I *really* like the tags box on the left side. Makes navigation so much easier.

Really? Again? Well, changing that shouldn't be a problem... as well as making the text larger. I'll see whether that will work without ruining the layout.
And "NEW LAYOUT and "Homepage" overlap in the right corner beneath the picture.
Now that's really weird. That shouldn't happen, even not with 800x600. I'll have to look into that.

Actually, it is a 800x600 thing. On my new, insanely huge resolution, the problem resolved itself. It was just that on the small resolution, the combined size of the textboxes was larger than the picture, so it overlapped with the rest of the page.
The only problems for me are that the contrast between text and background isn't big enough
That's another thing that's better on the new monitor, but I've turned both brightness and contrast to settings far lower than most other people probably have, so you might still want to fix it.

Are you sure? Because at the moment, I'm looking at the layout on my monitor from the stone-age that has the 800x600 resolution, and no overlapping. It makes no real sense, either, because if they were overlapping, it'd be a problem of height, not width, and I didn't define a maximum height *confused*.
so you might still want to fix it.
Did already ;). I increased the font size to 9pt and the line-height to 16px, and I picked a darker grey for the text. Hopefully now it's easier on the eyes :).

Yes, it definitely is. It annoys me to no end when people's LJ defines a different text size than the standard LJ layout, because then I have to keep changing font sizes when browsing the flist. This way it's much easier for lazy me. *g*

Yes I did. It was quite easy actually, once I'd figured out that I kept reloading the wrong html page in my browser... ;)

The layout looks cool though -even without elephant :D

Glad you like my layout! Even elephant-lacking...
