More self-pity
I can't believe this. At the moment I am studying for my histology exam, which I will have to take on Friday. I've got the theory more or less covered; what I have to do now is recognize different kinds of cells and tissue under the microscope. Meaning I'm looking at the pictures they uploaded to their homepage and am trying to figure out what's on them.
Now, I took a histology course for a few weeks to get some practice in recognizing cells and tissue under the microscope. Everybody did, it's mandatory. Well, the guy who taught the course was very incompetent - not in the field of histology, but in teaching. For one thing, he has a very quiet voice and a strong Swiss accent. Then, he can't speak in complete sentences. These two things alone make it almost impossible to listen to him and understand him (also because it's usually very loud in the course room because the students are talking among themselves). If you do manage to understand the words he's speaking, though, they don't make any sense at all. He changes subjects in the middle of a sentence without even pausing. And he doesn't seem to realize that none of us have ever recognized anything on a histology picture but colorful spots of blue and pink. What he does, he tells us which slide to look at, and says "Well, you've never seen this before, so you probably won't know what you're looking at. I won't tell you, though, because you need to recognize these tissues yourself." And then he lets us stare at pink and blue spots for ten minutes without revealing the secret of what the hell we are looking at. And then on to the next slide.
I figured, well, since I had the misfortune of ending up in the course he taught, I will simply have to do without the training that this course is supposed to provide. And I thought that maybe a tiny little bit of information seeped through to my brain during this course, after all.
Now that I am looking at the pictures I am supposed to be able to recognize on Friday, I realize that I was very wrong. They don't tell me anything. I have not the slightest idea what I am looking at. Sure, the pictures seem familiar, because I have seen them in the course, but I don't know what's on them because Professor You-Need-To-Recognize-This-Youself never told me.
That course was such a waste of my time. And I just can't see how I can pass the exam on Friday. I am really pissed at that professor.
