Do not want :(

Oh, ugh, I'm squicked. I just watched the trailer for Doctor Who with the German dub. I know I'm overly sensitive about this, but dubbed shows/movies just squick me out big time. For me, TV only became interesting when I started watching the shows in their original language.

I can't really say whether I think it's good or not, because I'd hate it even if it were the best synchro job ever done. But Doctor is spelled with a k, and Nine doesn't have an accent! What are they going to do about the "lots of planets have a North" joke?

Ugh. No, not good. Do not want this.

I don´t know the original but after I watched House, SG-1, SG-A and Due South in their original language I´m not interested in watching a translated show. By House the translation killed jokes and a few weeks ago I noticed that SG-A is in the german tv but it´s terrible. I clicked and watched the those trailer and if I don´t know all the postings here at lj and your enthusiasmus about that show I wouldn´t want to watch that show. I mean, I won´t watch it in the german tv. I´ll watch it at my seppel (thanks t_eyla). This trailer don´t wake any interesting in me to watch it.
I´m really happy that I have the possibility to watch that stuff in the original language.

I saw some clips of Doctor Who in Japanese recently and, while pretty humorous, they just felt all wrong, so I know what you mean.

They are still good for a laugh though:

Aaaand, I also missed this. Clearly I work and sleep too much...

I'm a dork, because I thought that was neat. Didn't sound nearly as silly as I was expecting. Although I'm sure it helps to not really understand a word of it, so I won't know what's been translated "wrong"/been lost in translation.

I got the "one mission, one doctor," part (er, right?), but what was just before that? Started with an R. Is it..."spaceship"? 'Cause Babelfish just gives me "spaceinclined," which is not a real word.

Also, why not subtitles? The only language I can speak is English, but I still prefer subtitles on my Who because I can have trouble processing the accents. I generally find that subtitles are only a distraction if you're not used to them.

Oh, the reading disability thing is a good point. I hadn't thought of that.
