Laurie Land!

I have been here for about one day, and lots of awesome things already happened.

[livejournal.com profile] tli and I went into Brighton today, and I bought s1 and s2 of House for 40 pounds. SHINY!

We got fish and chips for lunch and ate it while sitting on the beach looking out over the Channel.

I found this on the beach:

In case you can't make out what's written on that rock, it's "Greg". How cool is that? It was just lying there on the beach!

I think it's a sign. For what, I don't know. But it must be a sign, right?

Update will come soon :).

Welcome to my country! :D Hope you enjoy it. Come see me if you happen to be in Dorset.

[identity profile] rosettastone-d.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Brighton's a good few hours away, I think, but I've never been there. Lemme check...
Yep, you're about three hours away, which is closer than I thought. I'm to the West; head to Southampton and keep on going.
Do you know maddoggirl? She lives about fifteen minutes from me. It would be great if we could all meet up, but we've both just started sixth form college, so we don't have much time.
Still, what do you think? Is three hours too far, or is it feasible?

[identity profile] rosettastone-d.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn, I'm at school Monday + Tuesday, and I don't get home until really late, because I go to school an hour away from home. :( Major lose. However. MDG goes to school in Dorchester where there are two train stations, so she may well be up for it. I'll contact her.
Lose. But I hope you really enjoy your time in Britland nonetheless. And I'll get MDG to comment you saying whether she can make it or not.

DORSET? OH LOVE OH JOY!
The first place I ever lived in England (for 4 weeks) was Weymouth. And I loved it. It felt like home the moment I stepped out of the bus.
I wish I could come and invade your home... ;-)

[identity profile] rosettastone-d.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously? Weymouth's only about fifteen minutes from where I live! :D
Best coincidence ever.

COOL!
Hey I worked in Thomas Hardy school in Dorchester. Do you know it?

[identity profile] rosettastone-d.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
You are kidding me, right? My brother is in the sixth form there! When did you work there?

[identity profile] wihluta.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
HAHA that's fantastic!
Lemme think... It must have been 2004. I was a german language assistant for four weeks. I loved every minute of it.
AND I met Minette Walker when she officially opened the new language building. :-)

[identity profile] wihluta.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
damn, that should be Minette Walters

[identity profile] rosettastone-d.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! I think my brother was actually at the school in 2004. He would have been in the youngest year then. He didn't take German, though, he did French. Also, my dad is one of the music teacher there, and has been for yeeeeeeears. I'll ask him if he knew you.

[identity profile] wihluta.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think I've met any other teachers apart from the language ones. I've never actually been to the main building.
If your brother does french then he'll probably know Mrs Buckland. (she's a french teacher) I lived with her and her husband when I was there. He was a teacher too (retired now) and they're lovely

I SO SO love the interwebs for its bringing people together! *happy grin*

[identity profile] rosettastone-d.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
*returns happy grin* I'm pretty sure I've heard of Mrs Buckland. I'll ask my brother.
This is so incredibly awesome. :D

[identity profile] wihluta.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL
ask your brother and if he knows her, tell him to tell Mrs Buckland that Elli says 'hi' via the interwebs and his sister. That should be a surprise... ;-)

This is so incredibly awesome.
YES TOTALLY!

[identity profile] maddoggirl.livejournal.com 2007-09-17 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
FUCKEDY FUCK!

Mme Buckland teaches me French!

rosettastone_d pointed me to this thread, btw

Omg, why are there no House fangirls on the current staff?

I'll tell her Elli says hi. Maybe she'll mark my homework more compassionately...

OMG *runs screaming in circles*

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!!!! THIS IS AMAZING!!!!

Yes, please say hi to her from me. And please tell me what she said in return. And you should probably say I'm sorry I didn't write her for such a long time. :-)

I LOVE THIS FANDOM!!!!

[identity profile] maddoggirl.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol, I will. I have her tomorrow.

[identity profile] maddoggirl.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I told her hey from you! She said you're naughty for not writing enough and you must come over soon!

Then she said 'Oh, how do you know her?'

And I was all 'Uh...internet.'

She went on and on about what a nice girl you were etc. etc. :D

Hey, maybe it helps with your grades... *gg*

[identity profile] elicia8.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That rock is totally cool. You should write a story about it!

Glad to hear you're having a good time, dear. :)

[identity profile] maddoggirl.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
If you're in Dorchester any time between 3.30 and 4.30 Monday or Tuesday it might work ;D, I'm just so very busy that I wouldn't be able to make it any other time. We have two lots of homework a night...

But I hope you have a great time anyway, and bump into a succession of distinguished British actors :D

[identity profile] maddoggirl.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG, Uni, yes! We have a German girl here at sixth form/ She's only been living here since the beginning of the holidays (although she's been learning English since she was 4 or something). She rocks. (My friend has informed me that she isn't that great and that my judgement is clouded by love of foreign people. Spoil sport.)

[identity profile] sexy-severus.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, how cool is that? *wants such a cool stone too*

Fish and Chips sounds good :) But I got chinise today *jummy*

Anyway, I hope you both have at lots of fun in 'Laurie Land' *gg*
