Things to do in NoVa when your GF's at work.

Hi all! I live. America and [livejournal.com profile] mind_the_tardis are keeping me busy. But in a good way.

- On Saturday, we met [livejournal.com profile] recrudescence and [livejournal.com profile] shutterbug_12 in Arlington, where we went to see Sweeney Todd, which [livejournal.com profile] shutterbug_12 is doing lighting work for. It was lots of fun to meet fellow fan people, and I liked the performance, even if the first act dragged a little bit in places. I've been talking to [livejournal.com profile] mind_the_tardis about why that play always seems a little off, and we've come to the conclusion that it is because none of the characters really have any big decisions to make--none except Ms Lovett, which is why she's usually the most interesting character in that play.

- Sunday evening, [livejournal.com profile] mind_the_tardis and I went for dinner in a Persian/Afghan restaurant and had curry chicken and spinach-filled pasties. Om nom nom, very tasty.

- Workdays, [livejournal.com profile] mind_the_tardis has to, well, work, so I'm free to do whatever I want. I usually drive with her to her workplace in the morning and then take the car back with me, since [livejournal.com profile] mind_the_tardis's apartment is in a suburban area which is hard to navigate without a car. Not that I haven't tried. Today I walked 2.5 miles/3.7 km one way to the local mall and back. Which was nice, actually, since it's spring here in northern Virginia, and the cherry and pear trees are starting to bloom, and it looks very pretty. But I think I'll still take the car next time.

- Other than that, I've also driven to the other local mall, which is much bigger and further away, and I've gone shopping in one of those crazy-giant American supermarkets. I <3 your crazy-giant supermarkets, America. They remind me of my childhood.

- I've also done some uni work, which I feel very accomplished about. I have to break down, schedule and budget a short film script, and I'm all done with the scheduling and the break down. I'm a tad lost about how to do the budget, but I have a book that will hopefully be able to tell me what exactly I need to do. >_>

It's not exactly a very touristy vacation, this trip, but it is relaxing. Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] alex51324, let me know when meeting up would be most convenient for you? I'm very flexible; I really only have plans tomorrow and Friday night so far.
