Role play yay!
My Master is having his first night out, and he is having a very entertaining evening. He went to bother the Doctor, and first ended up having a discussion with him about the Time War - poking at all the Major Issues, obviously - then got the Doctor high on LSD, and now he's torturing him. Good times.
I've been getting into it a little lately - I've played Ten with a Romana, with a Jack Sparrow and a James Norrington, and with a Master, and as I said above I've played the Master with a Ten - and it really is too much fun. It can eat hours and hours of your day and you don't even notice. Sometimes, if you're not really hitting it off with a player or if the plot is boring, it can get a little tedious, but most of the time it's a blast.
I've only played on journals so far, though - haven't joined a comm yet. I don't know if I will. I really like the one-on-one thing, although the three-people-thread with Jack and James was fun, too. But I imagine it would get very confusing very easily when there are lots and lots of people involved. Role players who are reading this, what's your experience?
I'm also a little insecure, lol. I've never really role played before, and it's the same as it is with fic - there are so many dos and donts and etiquettes that I'm not familiar with, lol. On my Ten journal, another character contacted me in my 'contact the Doctor' post - and you'd think that's perfectly alright, since it's a 'contact the Doctor' post, but it's a character I really don't want to play with (yeah, okay, it's a Rose - I just don't ship that ship, alright? xD). I'm sure the mun is a perfectly lovely person, but how do I turn down a RP offer like that in a post where I'm actually already IC? It's all very complicated. *nods*
Ah well. I'm sure I'll figure it out. I'll just keep feeling around and slowly making my way into that world, lol.
The annoying thing about roleplaying is the whole sockpuppet business. At the moment, I'm playing Ten and the Master and am writing an entry in my journal, so that's essentially three LJ accounts I'm using at the same time. To make that possible without having to log on and off all the time, I'm using three different browsers - well, two, actually, Opera and Firefox, but I downloaded a plug-in for Firefox that lets you open an IE tab in Firefox.
Yes. Yes indeed. Role playing is making me use IE. I know. It pains me, too.
Anyway. How weird is Opera? Better than IE for sure, but eeh. Unfamiliar. :(
Lulz, now that my Master is finished torturing the Doctor, they are making pancakes together. What, crazy Time Lords.
It appears that role playing is, um, kinda keeping me from doing Nano today. Um. I'll make it up over the week?

I love roleplaying, except for the way it sucks hours and minutes into its blackhole and you realise you have no time now for anything else because you spent the entire day playing. So addicting, my god.
Good luck with Rose-mun. Usually, if a character contacts my pup and I am wary about doing a thread, I will still reply and then PM the mun explaining my stance. Because sometimes my favourite threads come out of talking to characters who Jack, for example, really dislikes.

Homg yes. It's like the LHC, only real. Lol xD.
I PM'ed the Rose mun and asked her to drop me a line on IM. As soon as I've talked to her, I'll know if I can live with her characterization of Rose and if she can live with my characterization of Ten. Because it's not so much that the Doctor doesn't like Rose - it's not that at all, really. It's just that Ten's terrified of meeting her again, because awkward, and I'm terrified of the mun expecting me to ship. So I'd rather talk to her first to find out what she's looking for in terms of Ten/Rose romance (or, you know, lack of it).
