Tagged twice by TLI + Exploded Pen
Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things/habits/little-known facts about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things/little-known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose 10 people to be tagged and list their names. No tag backs.
1) If it doesn't contradict my schedule, I prefer to be awake at night and sleep during the day.
2) If I have the time (and even if I don't) I'm perfectly happy to spend my whole day watching episode after episode of my newest favorite series. That's how I went through the whole thirteen seasons of SGA and SG-1 in about a month.
3) I annoy my friends by talking German with English grammar and sentence structure. I often can think of a term only in English, especially when I'm trying to make a point to somebody.
4) If I don't like doing something, it's borderline impossible to get me to do it.
5) I always enjoyed physics in school. I think that physics hold most of the answers to the universe and our existance, and stuff like quantum tunneling and Heisenberg's uncertainty principle blows my mind.
6) I was one of five girls on a one-week IT-seminar with over a hundred participants.
7) When I was three years old, I wanted to become a thief. A few years later, I had proceeded to garbage collector.
8) I find it very hard not to say what's on my mind, even if I know that what I'm about to say will offend people or get me into trouble.
9) I've been told that I have an almost unnaturally realistic and objective view on matters concerning real life.
10) I've never gotten along well with "normal" people. Most of my best friends could be categorized as geeks. So-called normal people usually piss me off or bore me.
Most of the few people on my flist already posted their list of weirdnesses, so I can't tag anyone except neery,
rusty_armour and
glorloth. Please consider yourself tagged ;).
Oh, right, I did the Box quiz thingie as well:

That's what chemistry does for me. Chemistry classes are the one thing I really miss about school.

But I guess as a chemistry-fan, you'll claim it's the other way 'round - physics is only a part of chemistry ;).

(Anonymous) 2007-01-29 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)No, I know that chemistry is a part of physics - I just think it's the most interesting part, the part that applies directly to the things we see around us - life, color, interaction...

Mostly true, even though I would categorize "color" more as a physics thing than a chemistry thing. However, you can't have the chemistry without the physics, even in the things we see around us - where would chemistry be without such basic physics as mechanics, gravity and electricity? The molecules would just float around in space without doing anything, because they can't attach themselves to each other without mechanics and can't be drawn to each other without electricity, and the whole system would be totally out of whack without gravity. And as for stuff like spin and atomic orbitals, that's physics 101.
But I guess I'm biased, because I really got off on the wrong foot with chemistry (I had this horrible teacher, and I dropped the subject after a year). I am so not looking forward to the chemistry exam in april. You could help me study, then I'll help you in the third semester with physics ;).

I always like physics too! I did a short course thing in Astronomy with the Open University - it was brilliant, and I got the most amazing planisphere from it!! Pretty and informative, I love it lol

I like nuclear physics best, and EM and wave stuff least. Nuclear physics just seems so clear, it makes sense to me, and besides, in that course they tell you how to build an a-bomb, which is kind of creepy but still very cool. ;)

Thanks for tagging me for the "weirdness" meme. If I have time, I might post something on the weekend. However, I've participated in a couple of similar exercises in the past, so I'm not sure if I have anything new to offer. I'll have to see how inspired I'm feeling. I liked your list, though. :-)

Don't worry about it. Post whenever you feel like it, and if you don't, well, I know now that you're in the Geek Box, so no need to verify ;).
Thanks for your post the other day, by the way. I tried to comment, but the comment wouldn't post itself, and wouldn't reload when I hit the back button. Anyway, you reminded me that German winter really isn't all that bad with only one week of snow and below zero so far :P. I guess we're getting all the global warming over here - people are seriously confused, having to go hiking when they usually went skiing. (I'm saying people because I neither hike nor ski, I only worry about the weather in the few minutes it takes me to hurry from my place to the bus stop and back ;) ).

No worries about your comment not working yesterday. Sometimes I have the same problem with LJ myself. In any case, I was surprised by the number of people who chose to comment on my post. I guess the weather is one thing everyone has in common. I hope Germany's luck holds and you don't have any more snow or sub zero temperatures. Although global warming is scary, it sometimes has its uses... *g*
