There are fandoms like House where you have lots of H/C
Because in this fandom, I have to ask ... hurt/comfort, right? Not House/[insert Cuddy, Cameron, or Chase here]? *g*
and the (longer) fics are usually rather plotty. Then there are fandoms like SGA where you usually have a lot of AU fic, lots of crack fic and even the long fics are not so much about plot as about - I'm not sure how to call it. Interaction? Something like that.
You'd probably know better than I would, as I've never seen an episode of SGA and haven't read any of the fic, but doesn't House have a lot of AU stories, too? And um, LOTS of crackfic? (That one I'm pretty sure about, hee!) I don't mean to argue, and it's definitely an interesting theory, but my (admittedly limited) experience hasn't reflected that.
