Imo, it wasn't elitism. I have followed events very closely. The initial idea was simply to condense the huge flood posted every day on h_w. The problem was that everybody labeled it clique and elitism. Moony didn't help by openly venting on her journal, even though I understand her frustration.

Well. Doesn't really matter anymore now, because hausvilson is now an open community.
