Moving comments to DW

I'm sure all of you have heard about LJ's latest fuck-up concerning the Twitter and Facebook crossposting thing. There are several fixes that users have come up with; a Greasemonkey script that will let you make the little checkboxes disappear for you, and a CSS code line (.b-repost-item {display:none}, to be copy-and-pasted into your Custom CSS box) that will eliminate the crossposting feature from your style as long as you're using the default comment pages. (They will still show up for users who are viewing LJ in their own style and are using customized comment pages, though.)

I've been crossposting to Dreamwidth for a while now, and have decided to take this opportunity to switch to having comments on DW. I'm teyla over there.

- If you have a DW account and I do not have you friended, please drop me a comment and I'll rectify that.

- If you don't have a DW account but want one, let me know, I've got 11 invite codes to give away. (And I might have a couple more in the RP accounts I've got over there, if the 11 codes I've got aren't enough.)

- If you don't have a DW account and have no intention of getting one, but still want to be able to comment on my f-locked entries, please take a quick look at my DW profile and make sure your OpenID is listed under the "Also Access To" list in the "People" section. If it is, you'll be able to access my locked posts. If it's not, let me know, and I'll add you.

- You can of course always comment anonymously as well, but not on my locked entries. If you do comment anonymously, it'd be awesome if you could sign your comment with your username, so I know who it is I'm talking to.

This is a trial run. I don't know how well it'll work, but I want to give it a try. As of now, comments on my LJ are turned off, comments on my DW are turned on, and if it works out, that's how it'll stay. I'll still be crossposting to LJ, of course, but if you want to comment, you'll have to do so on DW. As for older entries, don't worry, all conversations you may have had on my LJ in the comments are still accessible--on DW. Noting down the date of the original LJ entry will make it easy to find the mirrored entry in my journal archive on DW.

That's it, I think. If I've forgotten anything, I'll make a post about it to let you know.

On an entirely different note, I HAS A JOB. I'm going to start on Monday. It's a small coffee shop in the local mall. I will be surrounded by coffee. This makes me happy.

I HAS DW ACCOUNT! Hey, this reminds me - you still owe me a DW theme!!!!

Nah, it's fine. I only use DW to comment on posts of my LJ-friends who took up camp there.

Yay for a job!!!! Being surrounded is a good thing!

Oh, don't worry about it. Like I said, I just log in on DW to comment on people. LJ's still my Main Base. If this should ever change, I'll be begging for a DW-theme mercilessly, lol!
