Oh, how I hate this. The even worser scenario is when you just explained something to another female and said female doesn't believe a word you are saying, cue her male boyfriend coming into the conversation and saying literally the same thing. Suddenly it's a law of nature. *grumbles*

At least you got the thing done and he scarpered before you had to axe him. ;)
