The Age of Aquarius

I was just for the first in a long time listening to the song "Let the Sunshine In" from Hair - both the Aquarius medley and the actual Let the Sunshine In - song. And I was wondering, what is it that makes this song so high-inducing? With me, it might be fond memories of jamming on this song for hours with a few guys from the band I was playing in when I was in school, but it's not only me, or is it? Everybody loves this song in some way or other. And everybody will start singing along or dancing if it's only played long enough. I remember when we (=aforementioned band) played this song on a school concert, and the whole audience was singing along and clapping in the end (and they were all Germans! As a rule, Germans aren't happy in public).
Is it the constant repetition? It's probably part of it, but it can't be all, because usually, I hate those trance-inducing repetative Taizé kind of songs. Is it the key? Or the way anybody can sing along, even if they're totally untalented?
I've no idea. But no matter how old it is, and no matter how cheesy it is, it's still a great, great song.
