teyla: Cartoon Ten typing on top of the TARDIS like Snoopy. ([dw] cosmic angst)

My silly fandom angst, let me show you it.

Have you ever been OTC about a character?

For clarification, OTC = one true character. What I mean is that you'd be watching a show only because of one character - not because the actor is hot, but because you just love that one person so much.

I'm OTC about the Doctor (whoa, there's something you guys didn't know, eh? ;)), and I've been enjoying it very much. Being OTC means that you can enjoy every ship, you don't have to worry about your ship becoming canon or not, you don't have to worry that something/someone will split up your ship. You don't have to get involved in ship wars. It's a very enjoyable fandom life.

But now here's the thing: I'm not sure whether I'm OTC about the Doctor, or about Ten. I tend to think that it's Ten, though. Which makes me wonder, what will I do when Ten regenerates into Eleven? Because even though every Doctor has a slightly different personality, they're still the same person with the same fears and the same background history.

So is this basically a test of how much I let my David Tennant fangirling influence my Doctor Who fangirling? Will I stop loving the show, because all I was actually ever interested in was David? Or will I still love the show as much as I do now, minus the default love points it scored for having David in it?

Lol, I should not be as worried about this. It's just that I still love this show as much as I did when I got into the fandom a year ago - which just doesn't happen, at least not to me. Normally, the initial ecstasy wears off after a few months and you're left with a deep love, but not so much with the breathless, capslock-inducing feeling of squee, if you know what I mean. Not so with Doctor Who, though, and I just don't wanna lose this and have to go looking for a new fandom. I'm quite happy where I am.

Yeah. This was brought to you by me spending a whole day on the internet and having way too much time to think deep thoughts about my fandom attachment.
