I function on pretty much the same way, except that when I see that the other person's reasoning is faulty - as in, objectively faulty, not faulty in a matter of my personal opinion - I usually try to get them to see that rather than just steamroll all over them tell them they are wrong.

I have to admit, I partly do that because it makes for a delicious feeling of I've-been-right-all-along when the other person has to admit that yeah, they seem to have been talking bullshit. xD
