Blergh Summer Hiatus
I want fandom to be fun! *stomps foot*
I've only got myself to blame. I've been reading too much wank. You know how it goes; you're reading it and having a great time mocking the wankers, and suddenly you start to see all the venom and the hate and the awfulness, and you need to keep reading anyway, because people got up to this shit? Seriously? How much crazy is there in fandom? Is there anything but crazy in fandom? And how long does this go on? Jesus. (For the record, I've been reading Ms. Scribe's unauthorized fandom biography and other vintage Potter wank. Jesus fuck, that fandom was nuts.)
ANYWAY. I've decided that fandom needs to be fun again. If you agree, leave me a comment telling me five fannish things that make you happy. Or leave me a comment about something else that expresses the awesomeness of fandom. Or just leave me a comment about random things. IT'S ALL GOOD, as long as there's no venom. Lol. xD
1) Music of the Spheres made me happy. It was lovely Doctor Who goodness.
2) Reading this Hamlet recap made me happy.
3) This made me happy, as you probably all noticed. Lol.
4) Watching the DW confidentials made me happy. Especially the one for The Sontaran Stratagem, in which they built a cannon and shot a car into the Channel. AWESOME SPLASH! And then they used a big bad-ass crane to get it out again.
5) The new X-Files movie made me happy. Gillian Anderson is hot. So is David Duchovny. What is it with guys called David usually being hot?

14. My family is going camping, which means I'll have the house to myself for a few days. MAJOR squee over that.
15. I've been rereading some fics, and they have made me VERY happy.

1. I've met lots of fantastic people just as obsessed about stuff as I am, and more than willing to endlessly talk about their/mine/our obsession
2. I made real, good, reliable friends that I love dearly with some of these fantastic people *hugs friends*, I found myself a twin *hugs twin* and a sister-in-law *hugs sister-in-law*
3. I will meet one of my LJ-friends in person later this year and I'm very excited about that, and there are firm plans to meet more of them in the future, in Laurieland
4. I discovered fanfiction and some really unbelievably good authors
5. I started to write fanfiction and love doing that, even if 99% of it never will make it to LJ - and one thing, as it so often does, led to another because as we speak I'm involved in a project of writing together with 2 of the authors I really admire, which makes me very nervous, but also very happy
6. I gained some more obsessions because some of my LJ-friends pointed me in the right direction and kept sending me stuff on DVD (*hugs*)
7. I discovered how extremely friendly and helpful other fan-people are when it comes to sending TV-guides and other things I really need to be able to survive ;-)
8. Fandom cheers me up when I feel depressed and all alone. In Fandom, you never have to be all alone

1) Good fic makes me happy. Seriously nothing can beat a well written IC fic! They are the best. There are some really talented authors out there.
2) Doctor Who in it's entirety make me happy, and I love nothing more than chatting about it with other fans. I love hearing what other people liked, what I might have missed.
3) Good spin-off novels and books make me happy! I'm a huge geek and adore reference guides and junk like that. As long as they're well written with shiny pictures I'm a total sucker.
4) AUTOGRAPHS, I adore collecting autographs. It's just so wonderful to have them pinned on my wall, they never fail to make me grin. (Though I bet you sympathize now!)
5) Most importantly my fandom friends, seriously, what would I do without you guys?

2. Thanks to the kinkmeme, I've actually posted fic! Short, anon fic, but fic nevertheless. I got this weird confidence gain from knowing I ACTUALLY FINISHED SOMETHING AND POSTED IT, OMG, I DIDN'T THINK I COULD DO THAT. Ironically, it was something I wouldn't ship if you paid me, so why I was motivated to finish THAT one and not one of the two Doctor/Donna things I have continually up in the air, I don't know.

I love driving, too! Sadly, my car died, and I can't afford to buy a new one. When I still had it, I used to drive as much as I could. Because driving is awesome!
Origami! I'm usually not a very crafty person - too impatient - but origami wins. I need to do some at some point soon, because it's awesome fun.

Really, the current wank that is going on in fandom is not all that funny. SPN fandom is wanking about lawyerish things, and some transformer badficcer is trolling herself to get attention. Which is actually how I was linked to the Ms. Scribe biography and ended up reading that. Lol. But other than that, the last really good wank I read was the Her husband? A doll. thing.
No, what I want is this year to pass faster. I want the X-mas special, and I want to go see Hamlet in January, and I want to finally move to England. Summer, ILU, but this year, you need to pass a little faster. xD

You needs to watch Blackadder. It's just SO funny. If I were you, I wouldn't bother with S1 and S2 (they don't hinge on each other), because those are generally lamer than S3 and S4. Only a true seasoned Blackadder veteran would be able to find it even remotely watchable. Well, I'm a bit hasty in that. I'm sure very many people think it's funny w/o having seen S3 and S4 enough times to QUOTE the whole thing, but not in my experience.
