Well, this is written from Leon's POV, and there's no reason why the Doctor should be telling the kid how he got there, and neither is there a reason for Leon to wonder how he did it. I did think of a backstory, but it's of no concern to either of the characters, so putting it in the fic would only have disturbed the perspective.
