This is exactly what I meant when I wrote this in my PM: "I'm sure [LJ is] not a community everybody would feel comfortable being in, because the members do not show a lot of mercy when you're being an idiot. However, if you don't like the ways of LJ, why don't you just go away? LJ isn't going to change just for you."
To use your metaphor: people on LJ will cane you if you break the rules. If you think this is an inappropriately harsh punishment, then you shouldn't hang out in the community, i.e. not go to Singapore. If you do want to hang out anyway, you will have to stick to the rules. Or get caned. Whichever you prefer.
Small side-note: I don't think getting wanked equals getting caned. Everybody on LJ will sooner or later get wanked. I might get wanked for discussing this with you. It's just something to laugh about and move on. The more drama you make, the harder people will wank you.
