Yeah, the episode worked. On a small level (dialogue lines) and on a more overall level. Although - yes, some plot holes and problems, but I am kinda hopeful that they will be explained (read: handwaved) away in a suitable DW fashion next episode.
But, I think the overall idea worked - logically. It's like two circles:
The Alliance was formed because the TARDIS breaks the universe, which reverberates back into time for all to form the Alliance and be able to build the Pandorica - the TARDIS explodes because the Pandorica gets build and the Doctor gets locked into it - which leads to the cracks with leads to the Alliance.
The Doctor gets locked into the Pandorica because River shows him the picture - The picture exists because the Pandorica gets build and signals back into time - which leads to the Doctor going to the Pandorica.
The only thing I can't quite work out at the moment is how Amy's memories fit into that - oh, wait - the Alliance uses Amy to draw the Doctor towards the Pandorica, but that wasn't really necessary, because River showed him the picture... and HOW did Rory end up a Plastic Roman???
