Life, prompts, teh dumb

I'm so very talented. I broke the network port on my laptop. I have never needed the network port until now, when I have to connect to the uni network via cable, and it didn't take me three weeks to break it. Ah well. I bought a PCMCIA network card for 15 quid, and am hoping that it will work that way. (I'm in the uni IT room at the moment, not at home. Which is also the reason for any z/y mix-ups in this post, because they use qwerty keyboards here. D:)

I realized that I've never talked about Life on this LJ. Since the second season is airing now, and the show desperately needs some viewers, I'll do that now.

Life is an L.A. cop show with Damian Lewis and Sarah Shahi.

Lewis is Charlie Crews, a cop who was sentenced to life for a murder he didn't commit. He spent twelve years in prison, where he found his focus and calm in meditation and reading about Zen. After twelve years, his case is re-opened, and DNA tests prove that none of the physical evidence at the crime scene match his DNA. He gets released, gets 50 million dollars of settlement money and is reinstated as a cop at the LAPD homicide department.

Shahi is Dani Reese, a young cop with a history of substance abuse. She is the daughter of Captain Jack Reese, a retired cop whose integrity is a matter of some doubt. A realist bordering on cynic, she's the opposite of chronically cheerful Charlie Crews. At first, she's not too happy to be partnered with the eccentric-to-say-the-least ex-con/cop, but over time, the two of them grow closer.

Life is a clever, quiet, funny and thoughtful show that hasn't gotten nearly the amount of attention that it deserves. There's het potential - obviously - as well as slash potential, since Charlie lives with Ted, a guy he met in prison who does his books and manages his settlement money. There are even good femslash opportunities, since there are several strong female characters aside from Dani Reese. (Sadly, they ditched one of them in season 2, but there's still Charlie's ex-wife.) There are several LJ comms, the most active one probably being [livejournal.com profile] crews_reese. As I said, the second season is airing at the moment - if you live in the States and feel like taking a look, you can find the schedule right here.

I am feeling so very unproductive lately. I want to get into writing again. Which is why I am taking prompts. I can't promise you I'll write your prompt, but I can promise that I'll try. Fandoms I'm likely to write fic about are: Doctor Who, Life on Mars, Life. You can suggest any other fandom as well, though, as long as I know the show/book.

Life is one of those fandoms that I always *mean* to get around to watching. I saw the first episode of the fist series and I found it fascinating - but a lack of time stopped me watching further. :(

Do you know if the series has been released on DVD yet? :)

Incidentally, are you watching the new series of House? :)

Which is why I am taking prompts. I can't promise you I'll write your prompt, but I can promise that I'll try.

House, please. M-Preg or gender-swap with House as the character being m-preg-ed or gender-swapped. Er, sorry. Something sane? Migraines. Love and Loss. Never Cancer. Truth. Anything that strikes your fancy - though I wouldn't say 'no' to another House/Who crossover if you're ever in the mood. ;)

*ends babble*

But what sort of keyboard do you normally use, then *wonders*? I didn't even know any others are available in Europe. *wonders some more*

Prompts? Any chance of a HAPPY House/Wilson-story? You know, just something without death and leaving and hurt and angst and sadness and sorrow and harsh words and anger and tears and diseases and psychosis? However much I enjoy some of these stories, I'm craving something happy now. So, if at all possible... just something happy? It doesn't even have to have a plot. They can go groceryshopping for all I care. Just, happy.

Thanks for enlightening me! I've never seen one like that. Cool! And I already love you dearly for the fact you'll even think about my "prompt" *hugs* I should get my act together and write something myself again, too.

I caught half of the season premier when it aired and then have watched NOTHING. I fail at being a fan girl.

...do I want to know what Charlie did the body? I mean, it can't be too out there, but it is Charlie.

And WRITE PROMPT. WRIIIIITE. Moar Life fic, I say!
