I guess I should post a Doctor Who reaction post, shouldn't I? I don't . . . really have one. Have a copy and pasted log under the cut.

As much of a reaction as I can manage. Some spoilers. )

Doubt I'm gonna be watching in fall. I WANT MIRACLE DAY. I WANT IT NOW. Really, I'm with [livejournal.com profile] shinyopals and this macro.

New Comm

I have created a Torchwood: The New World comm on DW.

Torchwood: The New World

[community profile] torchwood_2011 | [community profile] torchwood_2011 | [community profile] torchwood_2011

A Dreamwidth community focusing on the upcoming fourth series of Torchwood--a place to share theories, articles, fanworks and discussions about Torchwood: The New World, which will start airing on BBC1 and Starz in Summer 2011. Oldbies and newbies equally welcome!

If you'd like to pimp it out, you can post the following code to your journal, or you can come up with your own, probably a lot less cheesy promotional blurb.

Code under the cut. )

Yuletide, RP, Writing, and a Poll

Yuletide finished, beta'ed, edited and posted. My first Yuletide experience: could have been a lot worse. I am sort of curious to see what my Yuletide writer came up with. They haven't defaulted; I guess that's a good sign.

Writing that fic made me miss writing. I love RPing, but writing is just an entirely different kettle of fish. Roleplaying is good because it keeps you writing--someone tags you, you sort of have to tag back eventually, no matter if you feel like it or not. But it's also bad because it's so self-indulgent. You never have to streamline anything, you never have to structure a plot, and if you get bored with a thread, you can drop it and start a new one. You can create stories, in RP, but a lot of the time, you're just kind of . . . sharing your thoughts on yaoi your character. In tag-form. You do get to know your character very well, but in order to tell a story, you need more than just a character.

That sounds very snotty and condescending and makes it sound like I think writing is "better" than RPing. I don't. I just think there's a bigger difference between the two than people realize. I do know that I love RPing, and that I still feel that I should turn Jasper's and my epic Doctor/Master AU into fic. Because I love that AU, and I love its story, and I want to be able to share it.

My thoughts on RP, let me show you them. Maybe I'll start writing fic again when I have a new fandom I can get excited about. The new Torchwood needs to start airing already. By the way--how is that fandom going to work? Are they going to run it on the old [livejournal.com profile] torch_wood comm? Because . . . I can't see that ending well. Not with that comm being mostly about the Jack/Ianto and SIJ crowd.

Yes, you should!

Ahaha. If you want to do that to yourself, sure.
4 (80.0%)

I don't think many people would notice it/join it.

No, you shouldn't. You modding a TW comm would be a bad idea.

New Torchwood Writers Announced

In the spirit of posting more, have more info about the new upcoming Torchwood:

Russell T Davies has firmed up the writing staff for the fourth season of "Torchwood," which debuts in the summer of 2011 on Starz.

Torchwood Davies, who created the "Doctor Who" spinoff, will of course write several episodes of the 10-part series, but other writers for Season 4 include John Shiban ("Breaking Bad," "Supernatural," "The X-Files"), Doris Egan ("House," "Tru Calling," "Dark Angel'), Jane Espenson ("Game of Thrones," "Battlestar Galactica," "Buffy") and John Fay (a U.K. "Torchwood" writer).

Doris Egan! John Fay! This is like scooping up all the good SF writers and putting them on a team that my favorite writer's in charge of. I approve.

RTD's New Project

International Partnership Secures New Series of Torchwood

New Torchwood! Written by a team led by RTD, and produced by RTD and Julie fucking Gardner! :D :D :D :D

The only downside I can see in this is that they're going to bring back John Barrowman as the lead, but hey. He was alright in CoE.

I just hope they won't get rid of my favorite character, Rhys. If Gwen comes back, Rhys has to come back, too. Right?

Can I just say that I'm fucking appalled at the horrible lack of spoiler etiquette running rampant in the Doctor Who and Torchwood fandom the past couple of days? How fucking hard is it to remember to cut, Spoilers for Torchweek. )

Augh, Barrowman. How unprofessional can you get? (No spoilers.)

My two cents are here.

That man is such an attention whore. It's not cute, it's not funny, it's just off-putting. Yeah, RTD interrupted both his shows and wrote ten 60-minute-specials all by himself because he doesn't like you, Barrowman. Brb facepalming epically.

Rather widely known casting spoiler for Torchwood series 3 ) will apparently not be joining the Torchwood cast after all.

More at [livejournal.com profile] doctorwho.

My two cents. )

ETA: Oh, apparently this is a Sun article. Lol, should be treated with skepticism, then. xD

Statistics yay!

On [livejournal.com profile] doctorwho, there's this poll going on about who's on the roof and who isn't. For all the people who haven't seen the 2005 Doctor Who x-mas special: in 2005, the Sycorax came to Earth and used blood control to send all the A positives to the roofs of high buildings, threatening the rest of the population to make them jump if their demands weren't met.

So far, the poll results are as follows:

I'm on the roof: 23 people
I'm not on the roof: 60 people
Why the fuck would I be on any roof?: 9 people

Isn't that the prettiest, shiniest statistics confirmation you've ever seen? If you squint, then the A positives:rest ratio is almost exactly 1:2. Eeh!

Other than that, I'm a little frustrated. I have 2 things I really want to write, and a heap of other things that I wouldn't be opposed to writing, and yet all I'm doing all day is making wallpapers. What is this? Frustrating, that's what it is.

Oh, and re: Torchwood 2x08 - am I wrong in saying that to all intents and purposes, Owen's now a zombie? How do you zombie-phobic people on my f-list feel about that? <= spoilers

ETA: spoilers in the comments!

So I've just watched Torchwood 2x01 in a fangirl chat, and I should really go to bed, because I think my brain has turned itself off a couple of hours ago already (I'm entirely relying on the Firefox spell check here; if I didn't have that, this would be riddled with typos, gah), BUT THERE IS ONE THING I WANTED TO SAY BEFORE I GO. (Also, I just realized it's 5am and this is my third post today. SORRY, F-LIST! I HAVE A LOT OF THINGS TO SAY! TRUFAX!)

Ophthalmologist, urgh

teyla: Mary Morstan from Sherlock giving a thumbs-up. (dork dork)
So I went to the ophthalmologist today to have them check my retinas (it's a routine thing I have to do once a year), and, ugh, how I hate it. They give you eye-drops that make your pupils open wide and then freeze, so your eyes can't adjust to lighting conditions anymore. They then take the brightest light they can find and shine it into your eyes, which actually hurts if they do it for as long as they did it today. Then they send you home with pupils wide enough to make people think your stoned off your ass.

I didn't go home, though. I went to the dean's office to tell them I want to resign from my med school courses. Ahahahaha. They didn't say anything, though.

There was an amusing moment when I was walking down the street towards the subway station and squinted against the light that was shining in my eyes, and read a street sign that said "St-Pauls-Square" as "St-Penis-Square". No, I'm not obsessed, why do you ask?

And this post was complete, unashamed "my woe, let me show you it!". Um. Have an e-cookie?
