Long Entry is Long

teyla: Calvin rejects the quality of network programming but still watches it. ([misc] c&h television)
I kind of fail at posting lately, don't I? I've been twittering a lot; apparently I have finally unlocked the Secret of Twitter. It's kind of like being in a big chatroom with a bunch of people where nobody is really talking to one another, except when they are. Um. That made so much sense. Anyway, yeah. If you have a Twitter account and I'm not following you, let me know. If you want to follow me, I'm t_eyla over there same as on LJ.

My new uni trimester has started. Actually, it started last Monday already, but since I only have three classes a week, we haven't really done too much yet. My classes this term are Fiction Production, Producing TV and Studio Production. The latter two are my electives--they were both second choice, since my two first choices (Creating a Sitcom and Writing a Short Film) didn't run. But I'm still enjoying them quite a lot.

Uni babble. )

Good heavens, look at that wall of text. I surely have a lot to say on the topic of my uni classes, don't I? Granted, there's not much else going on. Went out with a couple of people the other night, and actually enjoyed myself. Maybe I should do this more often. And I've been reading Storm Front (1st Harry Dresden novel) for weeks now, but somehow that book is not managing to captivate me at all. I read a couple of pages and then put it down to do something else. I don't actively dislike it, I just find it very unsurprising and bland. Do the books get a little more daring later on?

In regards to fandom, um. Nothing going on there. Except [profile] dontwanttogo, the Doctor Who rewatch project. We've only watched one episode so far, but I'm enjoying it. It's something to look forward to every week, and it's a chance for me to talk a lot about the Doctor. I love talking about the Doctor. In case you didn't know that.

Oh, and the drama that is going on with [community profile] house_cuddy is ridiculous. I do have to say, if I were a bit more knowledgeable about all the intrinsic relationships going on there, I'd report it on f_w, because that mod is behaving in an absolutely absurd way, and I would love to see him mocked and laughed out of fandom. Well. I'm sure even if I don't, someone else will. It's such a classic case of a megalomaniac asshat mod getting butthurt and going on a murder deletion spree, f_w's not gonna miss out. And all this even though I was never even a member of that comm. The ship doesn't matter, though--asshattery on the internet is asshattery on the internet, no matter if it's sailing a het ship or steering a slash steamboat. (Look at all those pretty alliteration. :3)

Last but not least, I actually enjoyed 5x12 of SPN. It wasn't too offensive (not any more than any other show on television), and the funny actually won over the embarrassing and trainwrecky. I'm impressed. I do miss Castiel, though. He's probably off going through the heavenly filing cabinets and looking for God's cell phone number. Damn the man, he never checks his voice mail.

Okay, this is a very long entry now. I think I'll cut it off here before it gets any longer. What's up, f-list?

Was it just me, or was the latest SPN episode (Fallen Idols) one of the most offensive episodes this show has ever aired?

Good lord, Merlin. And here I was thinking it couldn't get any gayer than series 1. Although I did enjoy the minor spoiler ). Keep sparkling, shiny show. <3

I also caught up on House. I know, I said I wouldn't, but I couldn't resist the promise of spoilers ).

And, as I said, I also caught up on Supernatural. Ahahahahaha Jesus H. Christ. That show. Spoilers. )

Now, are there any other shows that I should catch up on?

Okay, so, SPN? I lol'ed, but then I thought, well. No. Actually, no. Not cool.

Okay, guys, last chance to join [livejournal.com profile] wewriteinhell. Well, last chance to join before the official start, anyway. If you're not sure about whether you want in or not, check out this introductory post, which explains once again in detail what the comm is about.

Also, just for the record, may I mention once again how goddamn blokey SPN is? I mean, for serious. It's just... it makes you feel kind of sad for those guys. I don't think they ever got a hug in their entire life when they needed one.

Although I kind of do want to dress Dean and Sam up in SPARTA outfits. Do you think Leonidas would have approved of the Metallicar?

I kind of want to make a Master/Doctor vid to Korn's Make Me Bad in the style of T. Jonsey's & Killa's Kirk/Spock vid 'Closer' - only much more badly edited, lol. First problem is, I'd need some high quality gay porn for that, preferably bondage, and I don't have any. (Hah hah, see what I did there? I totally just excused my surfing the net all night looking for gay porn with being an ~*artist*~.) Second problem is, I'm not sure I could pull it off, and if you don't pull off a vid like that really well, it just turns out completely ridiculous.

I feel so boring lately. All I do is post Nano in locked posts, and then whine about having to write Nano in the unlocked posts. Lol fail. There's been a whole lot of f-locking going on in this journal lately. There's always some reason to lock my stuff - I guess it's the fact that too many real life people are invading my internet life lately. I don't really mind real life people reading my journal, but I would mind if they started wanting to talk to me about it in a confrontational way. And, yeah, then there's the thing where I whine about real life people on my journal, so lately, those posts usually get locked as well.

Some seriously long-winded tl;dr about f-locking and social taboos. )

I might have to revoke the opinion I've expressed to a couple of people that Supernatural's forth season is any better than the previous three. The funny episodes are getting funnier, but the srs bzns plot episodes are as ridiculous as ever. There are more funny episodes now, so maybe that raises the general average, but yeah. As soon as they try to do more than have the actors be a couple of huge dorks in front of the camera, they stumble back into the territory of terrible, stereotypical 'characterization' and boring, predictable plot lines. Oh, and the last episode turned this season's 'good' female character into a cheap slut by slight spoiler ). So, no surprises on that front. Stick with the dorky episodes, SPN. You do them a lot better than the serious ones.

Holy fuck, how is it 5am? How did that happen? Askjhf must go to bed. Lol, this entry is so gratuitous.

Been catching up on those TV shows

I've spent the whole day watching TV and talking to no-one (except people on the internet). I almost feel like myself again! ;)

I have been watching

Black Books )

Supernatural )

Merlin )

House )

In other news, I hope the crazy going-out thing will settle down now that the actual lectures are about to start. I have my first one on Tuesday morning - I think it's 'Technologies of Broadcasting'. My other subjects are: Research for TV, History of TV, Introduction to TV Production with the subtopics 'Editing', 'Studio' and 'Single Camera', and come February, I'll be ditching History of TV for Writing for TV, which I am very much looking forward to. I do like my schedule a lot - I have Fridays and every other Monday off - and apparently, there won't be any exams in this course, only essays and presentations, which I do approve of a lot. So far, I'm quite happy with the way this is going.

Guys, I'm sorry I've been so absent lately. I know I haven't commented at all, but I do read the f-list - just today I spent two hours catching up with the last couple of days' entries. It's just that there's a lot going on - I've not been writing either, just because I've been so distracted with real life things. I'm sure this will change again once I've settled into a routine.

Spoilers Dr Who s4 )

SPN was better than usual today.

Spoilers SPN 3x05 )

I almost don't dare mention it so as not to jinx it, but I have actually added about 1000 words to my long-overdue, completely past the deadline GHL prompt fic. This is cool because of two reasons, a) being that I haven't been able to write anything at all these last couple of weeks, and doing it again was a huge relief, and b) being that, well, even though I don't know if I'm even going to be able to work up the courage to post the fic to GHL this late, it still sucks more not to finish it at all.

Wow. Being in several fandoms at once is exhausting. Lol.

Over the last three days, all in all I've spent more than seven hours driving on the German Autobahn. Which means I had a lot of time to think about what makes the German Autobahn so infamous.

Wanna hear? )

I've also watched the new episodes of

Stargate: SG-1 )
